Overview

The Zoning Board of Adjustments hears and decides appeals where it is alleged there is error on any order, requirement, decision determination by an administrative official in the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance or interpretation of the Unified Building Code and the Princeton Zoning Ordinance. This Board has the power to hear and act upon appeals from a denial of a variance request. The Board's decisions are final.

Zoning Variance

A Zoning Variance is a request to appeal regulations set forth in the City of Princeton's Zoning Ordinance. Variance requests typically involve such issues as setback requirements for houses and other buildings. Requests are submitted to the City's Development Services Department. The requests are reviewed and acted on by the Zoning Board of Adjustments, which is comprised of the City Council Members.
