Under the direction of the Police Chief, Professional Standards' purpose is to conduct thorough and objective administrative investigations as assigned by the Police Chief:
- Recruits quality applicants for employment within the Department
- Conducts thorough background investigations
- Protects the public from employee misconduct
- Protects employees from false allegations of misconduct
- Identifies faulty policies and procedures that might otherwise go undetected
- Monitors training and makes recommendations as needed
