Expired Violations
If you have been charged with Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection, Expired Motor Vehicle Registration, or Expired Drivers Licence you may be eligible to have the citation dismissed, only if you renew the inspection within twenty (20) days of receiving the citation.
To Have a Citation for Expired Driver's License or Expired Registration Dismissed, You Must:
- Appear in court within twenty (20) days of the date you were issued your citation.
- Get the violation corrected within twenty (20) working days from the date of your citation and provide proof to that effect.
- The proof of correction for Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection must show the vehicle PASSED the inspection.
- Proof of correction for Expired Registration must show that a 20% penalty was paid to the Department of Motor Vehicles at the time the registration was renewed. If the penalty is not paid, the Court cannot dismiss the citation.
- Pay a $20.00 dismissal fee.
