Divisions
Administration Division
The Administration Division is responsible for the management and daily operations of the police department and its employees. In addition, the Administration Division manages the fiscal budget, payroll, records, grants, training, fleet vehicles, purchasing, state licenses and certifications, professional standards and serves as a liaison to all local, state and federal agencies. The Department’s policies, procedures, goals and objectives are developed and implemented through the Administration Division.
Patrol Division
The Patrol Division of the Princeton Police Department is the most visible aspect of the agency. Commanded by a Sergeant, this division provides the community with efficient and professional police services. The Patrol Division utilizes several units to achieve the overall goal of community safety. These units include:
- Bike Patrol Unit
- Traffic Unit
- Field Training Unit
Criminal Investigation Division
The Criminal Investigation Division is responsible for managing and conducting in-depth investigations from the on-set at the crime scene through prosecution in court. Criminal Investigators attend numerous hours of advanced training, and are adapt to handle even the most complex investigations. Criminal Investigators are typically assigned to work 8–hour shifts, Monday through Friday, and are on call for serious crimes committed after normal business hours.
School Resource Officer
The Princeton Police Department works jointly with the Princeton Independent School District in promoting school safety, and crime and drug awareness education programs. A School Resource Officer program provides a police officer assigned to the school district for the purposes of providing campus safety, classroom education, and serving as a positive role model for the school students.
