SAVING $$$ THIS SUMMER:Summer has arrived with a bang!!! Many of us are looking for every possible way to reduce spending and save a few dollars. Here is some information to help control your cooling costs this season. According to Oncor Electric Delivery Company, each degree your thermostat is lowered in the summer increases your residential electric bill by about 7 percent on average. Keeping temperature at 74 instead of 78-79 increases your bill by about 30-35 percent. If saving about one-third on your electricity bill sounds good, give this a try. It usually doesn't hurt anything to put the thermostat at 80 while you are at work or away from home for other reasons. Summer is a lot more enjoyable if your electric bill is not busting the budget.

ROAD CLOSURE: Monte Carlo Blvd. will be closed for construction from Monday June 14th to Monday, August 23rd.

ATTENTION: ALL-TERRAIN VEHICLES AND 4-WHEELERS ON PUBLIC STREETS:  The use of all-terrain vehicles, including 4-wheelers, on public roadways and parks is ILLEGAL.  Violators may be arrested and vehicles may be impounded.

BE AWARE AND BE PREPARED:  Get ready for spring storms by purchasing a Midland Weather Radio at City Hall Utility Department for $25.00 (including tax).

CENSUS 2010:  In March, the U.S. Census Bureau will mail a 2010 Census form to every residence in the United States. The 2010 Census form will ask for name, gender, age, race, ethnicity, relationship, and whether you own or rent your home, just 10 simple questions that will take about 10 minutes to answer.  Your answers are protected by law and are not shared with anyone.  If forms are not mailed back in March then from April through July the Census Bureau will be sending out field representatives to knock on your door or give you a call. So to avoid the visit or the call, please mail back the form.  For more information about the 2010 Census visit www.census.gov/2010census.
